1. Welcome to Jool
Welcome to Jool Education.
These Terms and Conditions explain the rules for using our website, purchasing our educational products and enrolling in our online learning programmes.
We believe in clear communication, fair treatment and an excellent educational experience for every student and family.
Please read these terms before purchasing a product or enrolling in a programme.
By using our website, you agree to the provisions relating to website use. When you purchase a product or enrol in a paid programme, the relevant additional terms form part of your agreement with Jool.
Nothing in these terms removes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.
2. About Jool Education
Our website and educational services are operated by:
Jool Education LLP
Company registration number: OC434518
Registered office:
124 City Road
London
EC1V 2NX
United Kingdom
Email: contact@sayhijool.com
Website: https://www.sayhijool.com
Jool provides online educational programmes, private and group lessons, academic assessments, original learning materials and related services.
Our programmes may be delivered by qualified or suitably experienced teachers working with Jool, including authorised employees and independent teaching contractors.
3. Who Can Use Our Services?
Our website is intended for parents, guardians, students and other visitors interested in our educational services.
Parents or legal guardians should ordinarily register for and purchase services on behalf of children under 18.
By enrolling a child, you confirm that you are authorised to make decisions about their participation and agree to the applicable payment and programme terms.
Students are expected to participate respectfully and follow reasonable instructions from their teachers.
We may decline an enrolment where we reasonably determine that a programme is unsuitable for the student's needs, taking account of available support and our legal obligations.
4. Our Educational Programmes
Jool offers educational services that may include:
-
English & Literature
-
Academic Writing
-
One-to-one personalised learning
-
Small-group classes and academic enrichment
-
Reading, discussion and critical thinking programmes
-
Academic assessments and placement tests
-
Digital and printed educational resources
-
Other programmes described on our website
The precise content, price, lesson frequency, duration, teacher arrangements and included resources depend on the programme selected.
The programme description and written enrolment confirmation provided when you purchase take precedence over general website descriptions if there is any inconsistency.
Where additional programme-specific terms apply, we will make them available before enrolment.
5. Enrolment and Placement
5.1 Academic Assessment
Some programmes require a Jool placement test, Fit Check, recent writing sample or other academic information before enrolment.
We use this information to recommend an appropriate starting point.
A Fit Check or preliminary review is not a comprehensive academic diagnosis or a guarantee of future results.
5.2 Teacher Assignment
We consider student needs, academic level, availability and programme requirements when assigning teachers.
We will make reasonable efforts to provide continuity, but enrolment does not guarantee access to a particular teacher indefinitely unless expressly agreed.
If a teacher becomes unavailable, we may propose a suitable replacement or alternative arrangements.
Where a material change prevents us from delivering the agreed service, we will discuss appropriate remedies with the parent or guardian.
5.3 Programme Suitability
Our courses may introduce advanced concepts earlier than conventional school curricula.
We consider a student's academic readiness, interests and, where relevant, emotional maturity when selecting suitable learning materials.
We may recommend an alternative programme if we believe it would better serve the student's needs.
6. Fees, Payments and Subscriptions
6.1 Programme Prices
Current prices are displayed on the relevant programme page, checkout page or personalised enrolment offer.
Prices may differ between programmes, countries, promotional offers and enrolment cohorts.
The price applicable to your enrolment will be confirmed before payment.
Any applicable taxes and additional charges will be disclosed as required before purchase.
6.2 Monthly Memberships
Many Jool programmes operate on a monthly subscription basis.
Unless otherwise stated in your enrolment confirmation:
-
Fees are charged monthly in advance.
-
The subscription renews automatically at the agreed billing interval.
-
Payments are collected using the payment method authorised during enrolment.
-
The subscription continues until cancelled in accordance with these terms.
-
There is no fixed minimum commitment beyond the applicable billing period, unless expressly agreed before purchase.
The agreed price, billing date, included lessons, subscription duration and cancellation arrangements will be provided before enrolment and confirmed afterwards.
6.3 Lesson Entitlements
Programmes described as providing one or two lessons per week are scheduled according to the agreed learning timetable.
Because calendar months vary in length, the number of scheduled lesson dates may vary.
Your enrolment confirmation will identify the applicable lesson entitlement or scheduling arrangement. A fixed monthly membership price does not necessarily represent a fixed price per individual lesson.
6.4 Founding or Promotional Memberships
Jool may offer introductory prices or additional resources to a limited number of eligible families.
For example, an introductory membership may include supplementary Writing Core resources at no additional charge.
Any eligibility conditions, limitations or future price arrangements will be explained before enrolment.
A promotional price is not necessarily available to future customers or new enrolments after the advertised offer ends.
Jool will not change an existing customer's agreed subscription price without appropriate advance notice and an opportunity to cancel before the change takes effect.
6.5 Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we may contact you and provide a reasonable opportunity to update your payment details.
We may suspend access to paid services if an outstanding payment remains unresolved after appropriate notice.
We will not impose undisclosed payment penalties.
7. Your Right to Cancel Within 14 Days
7.1 Initial Cooling-Off Period
Where you enter into an eligible distance contract for educational services, you normally have a legal right to cancel within 14 days after the day the contract is made, without giving a reason.
To exercise this right, email:
You may use the cancellation form at the end of these terms, but you are not required to do so.
7.2 Starting Lessons During the Cooling-Off Period
Many parents prefer their child to begin lessons without waiting 14 days.
If you expressly request that Jool begins providing services during the initial cancellation period, we may start lessons before that period expires.
If you then exercise your statutory cancellation right during the 14-day period, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for services already provided, where the legal requirements for doing so have been met.
We will refund any remaining amount due under applicable law.
If a service has been fully performed during the cooling-off period, your cancellation right may end where you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged the relevant consequences, as required by law.
7.3 Cancellation Refunds
Where a statutory cancellation refund is due, we will make it without undue delay and within the applicable legal time limit, normally within 14 days of receiving your cancellation notice for a service.
Refunds will ordinarily be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Beginning an online teaching programme does not automatically remove your statutory right to cancel.
8. Cancelling Your Monthly Membership
After any applicable statutory cooling-off period, parents may cancel an ongoing monthly membership.
8.1 How to Cancel
You can request cancellation by emailing:
Please include the student's name and the programme concerned.
Where a cancellation function is available in your account, you may also use it.
We will confirm receipt of your cancellation request and the effective cancellation date.
8.2 When Cancellation Takes Effect
Our standard membership policy is cancellation at the end of the current monthly billing period.
To avoid another renewal payment, please submit your cancellation request before the next scheduled renewal charge.
Unless an earlier cancellation or refund is required by law or agreed with Jool:
-
Your membership remains active until the end of the paid billing period.
-
Scheduled lessons and included services remain available during that period.
-
No further renewal charge will be taken after the effective cancellation date.
Where a subscription is billed by calendar month, cancellation takes effect at the end of that month.
8.3 Refunds After the Initial Cancellation Period
Membership fees already paid are not ordinarily refundable simply because a student chooses not to attend or continue, unless a refund is required by law or another applicable policy.
This does not affect your rights if Jool fails to provide services with reasonable care and skill, cannot deliver the agreed services or otherwise breaches its obligations.
Any refund, credit or alternative arrangement will be assessed fairly in light of the circumstances and applicable law.
9. Lesson Scheduling, Absences and Rescheduling
9.1 Scheduled Lessons
Lessons take place at the agreed times, usually through an online video-learning platform.
Parents and students should check lesson invitations and notifications and attend punctually.
9.2 Student Absences
If your child cannot attend a scheduled lesson, please notify Jool as early as possible.
Rescheduling requests are subject to the applicable programme arrangements, reasonable notice and teacher availability.
The notice period and any entitlement to replacement lessons will be communicated as part of the programme's scheduling arrangements.
Where a lesson is missed without reasonable notice, Jool may be unable to offer a replacement.
We consider exceptional circumstances fairly.
9.3 Teacher Absences
If Jool cannot deliver a scheduled lesson because of teacher illness, unexpected unavailability or another issue within our responsibility, we will arrange a reasonable alternative.
This may include:
-
Rescheduling with the same teacher
-
Providing a suitable replacement teacher
-
Offering an appropriate credit
-
Providing a refund where required or agreed
Students will not lose their entitlement to an agreed lesson solely because Jool cancelled it.
9.4 Technical Difficulties
Parents are responsible for arranging a suitable internet connection and compatible device.
If a technical problem is caused by Jool or its delivery arrangements, we will seek a fair solution.
If the problem arises from the student's equipment or connection, we will make reasonable efforts to assist, but a replacement lesson is not automatically guaranteed.
Where a third-party platform experiences an outage beyond our control, we will consider appropriate rescheduling or alternative delivery arrangements.
10. Student Conduct and Online Safety
Jool aims to provide a respectful, supportive and safe learning environment.
Students must:
-
Treat teachers and classmates respectfully
-
Avoid bullying, harassment, abusive language or discriminatory conduct
-
Follow reasonable classroom instructions
-
Participate in online lessons appropriately
-
Respect the privacy of other students
-
Avoid sharing meeting links or recordings without authorisation
Parents and guardians should ensure that younger students have an appropriate environment in which to participate.
Teachers must also follow Jool's professional conduct and safeguarding requirements.
Serious or repeated misconduct may result in a meeting with the parent, temporary suspension or termination of enrolment where reasonable and proportionate.
Where services are terminated early by Jool, we will consider the contractual circumstances, unused services and applicable consumer rights when determining any refund.
11. Academic Progress and Educational Outcomes
Jool is committed to high-quality teaching, challenging academic content and personalised development.
Our lessons may help students improve reading comprehension, analytical thinking, academic vocabulary, discussion and written communication.
However, educational progress depends on several factors, including:
-
Starting academic level
-
Student participation
-
Attendance
-
Independent study and homework
-
Consistency of learning
-
Individual educational needs
We do not guarantee a particular examination grade, school placement, assessment result or rate of academic progress.
Statements describing advanced curriculum content or ambitious learning goals should not be interpreted as guarantees of a particular outcome.
We will deliver our services with reasonable care and skill, as required by applicable consumer law.
12. Educational Materials and Intellectual Property
Jool develops original educational materials, including:
-
Literature and academic writing workbooks
-
Lesson plans and teaching activities
-
Academic exercises and assessments
-
Vocabulary and reading resources
-
Illustrations, graphics and educational designs
-
Digital learning content
Unless otherwise stated, these materials are owned by Jool Education LLP or used with permission from the relevant rights holders.
12.1 Permitted Use
When you purchase or receive access to Jool materials, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive licence to use them for the enrolled student's personal educational purposes.
You may download, print or access resources to the extent expressly permitted by the product or programme.
12.2 Restrictions
Without written permission, you must not:
-
Resell Jool workbooks or teaching resources
-
Reproduce substantial parts for distribution
-
Share materials publicly or upload them to unauthorised websites
-
Distribute purchased resources to unrelated families or organisations
-
Use Jool materials to operate competing commercial courses
-
Remove copyright or ownership notices
These restrictions do not prevent any use permitted by applicable copyright law.
12.3 Student Work
Students and their families retain their applicable rights in original work they create.
By submitting work to Jool, you give us permission to use, store, reproduce and annotate it as reasonably necessary to deliver the requested educational services.
Submitting a student's work does not give Jool permission to publish it publicly or use it in advertising.
Separate appropriate permission is required for such uses.
13. Digital Workbooks and Downloadable Products
Jool may sell digital workbooks, downloadable resources and other digital educational content.
Product descriptions will explain what is included and any applicable access restrictions.
Digital products are licensed for the stated educational use and are not sold with unlimited redistribution rights.
13.1 Digital Cancellation Rights
Digital content supplied electronically may be subject to different statutory cancellation rules from live teaching services.
Where you request immediate access to qualifying digital content during the 14-day cancellation period, we will obtain any express consent and acknowledgement required by law before supply begins.
Where the legal conditions are satisfied, you may lose the statutory right to cancel that particular digital-content purchase once supply begins.
The purchase or download of digital material does not automatically remove statutory cancellation rights relating to a separate live teaching service.
13.2 Problems with Digital Content
If digital content is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet applicable consumer standards, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy under consumer law.
Please contact us if a download fails or a purchased resource cannot be accessed.
14. Printed Books and Physical Products
Where Jool sells printed books or other physical goods, the applicable price, delivery charges and estimated delivery arrangements will be provided before purchase.
14.1 Delivery
We aim to deliver products within the time agreed with you.
If no delivery period is agreed, applicable statutory delivery requirements will apply.
International delivery may involve additional charges or import obligations, which will be explained where applicable.
14.2 Cancellation and Returns
For most eligible physical goods purchased online, consumers have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days after receiving the goods, subject to applicable exceptions.
After notifying us of cancellation, you normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.
We will provide appropriate return instructions.
Where permitted by law and properly disclosed before purchase, customers may be responsible for the direct cost of returning goods.
We will refund the amounts required by law, including applicable standard delivery charges, within the statutory time limits.
Your rights relating to faulty, misdescribed or defective products remain unaffected.
14.3 Personalised Products
Certain products made to a customer's specifications or clearly personalised may be excluded from ordinary change-of-mind cancellation rights, where the law permits.
Any applicable exclusion will be clearly explained before purchase.
15. Free Assessments, Fit Checks and Consultations
Jool may offer complimentary services, including:
-
Academic Fit Checks
-
Initial consultations
-
Writing Snapshots
-
Introductory assessments
-
Selected educational resources
These services are intended to provide useful preliminary information and help families consider suitable educational pathways.
Completing an assessment or consultation does not create an obligation to purchase a paid programme.
Free feedback and recommendations are based on the information available to us and may not represent a full evaluation of the student's abilities or needs.
Where a free service is limited by availability, eligibility or other conditions, these will be communicated clearly.
16. Privacy, Recording and Student Information
We collect and process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Student information and academic work are used for appropriate educational, administrative and operational purposes.
Online lessons may be recorded where appropriate information and safeguards are in place.
Recordings are not made available publicly or used in advertising without appropriate separate permission.
Parents and students must not record, distribute or publish other participants' images, voices or personal information without appropriate authorisation.
Please review our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for further information.
17. Website Use
You may browse our website and access publicly available content for lawful, personal purposes.
You must not:
-
Attempt to damage or disrupt our website
-
Access another person's account without permission
-
Introduce malicious software
-
Use our services for fraudulent or unlawful purposes
-
Copy or commercially exploit protected website content without permission
-
Collect website information through unauthorised automated methods
-
Submit unlawful, abusive or misleading material
We may take reasonable action to protect the website, our users and our intellectual property.
This may include restricting access where necessary and proportionate.
18. Third-Party Platforms and Services
Our website and online teaching services may use third-party technology, including:
-
Wix
-
Google Calendar and Google Meet
-
Other video-learning platforms
-
Payment providers
-
Educational publishing and learning platforms
-
Embedded video services such as YouTube
Your use of a third-party platform may also be subject to that provider's applicable terms and privacy policy.
For example, where YouTube functionality is used, you can review the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
We are responsible for delivering the Jool services we have agreed to provide, subject to applicable law, even where third-party tools support that delivery.
19. Changes to Programmes and Services
We may make reasonable changes to our programmes to improve curriculum quality, maintain academic standards or respond to operational requirements.
These may include updating teaching materials, introducing improved learning activities or making reasonable timetable adjustments.
We will communicate material changes that affect your agreed service.
Where a proposed change substantially alters what you purchased, we will discuss reasonable alternatives and honour your applicable consumer rights.
We will not use these terms to make arbitrary changes to paid services without appropriate notice or remedy.
20. Problems, Complaints and Refund Requests
We want families to be satisfied with their experience at Jool.
If you have a concern about teaching quality, scheduling, payments or another aspect of our service, please contact us.
Email: contact@sayhijool.com
Please provide the relevant student's name, programme and details of the concern.
We will investigate fairly and seek an appropriate resolution.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
-
Explaining or correcting an issue
-
Additional academic support
-
A replacement lesson
-
Adjusting a learning arrangement
-
A partial or full refund where appropriate
These options do not limit your statutory rights.
21. Our Responsibilities and Liability
Jool will provide paid educational services with reasonable care and skill.
We do not exclude or restrict liability where doing so would be unlawful.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for:
-
Death or personal injury caused by negligence
-
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
-
Breach of consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded
-
Any other liability that cannot be restricted under applicable law
We are not generally responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or for losses arising solely from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, subject to applicable law.
Our services are intended primarily for personal educational use. We do not ordinarily accept liability for business losses arising from personal consumer purchases, except where the law provides otherwise.
If events outside our reasonable control disrupt a lesson or service, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the disruption and make fair arrangements in accordance with our contractual and statutory obligations.
22. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes to our services, legal requirements or business operations.
Changes to the terms governing future website use will be published on this page.
Where changes affect an existing paid agreement, we will provide appropriate notice and will not remove accrued rights or impose unfair retrospective conditions.
Any legally required cancellation or other rights will continue to apply.
23. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Consumers retain the protection of any mandatory consumer laws applicable to them.
Nothing in these terms prevents a consumer from bringing proceedings in a court where applicable law gives them that right.
