From the mysteries of Hogwarts to Edward Tulane’s emotional journey and Coraline’s unsettling discoveries, this JOOL workbook invites students to investigate characters, question their choices and explain their own interpretations.
Each unit connects reading with academic speaking and writing, helping students develop clear ideas, select relevant evidence and explain why it matters.
What students will practise
Close reading and inference: Interpret clues, recognise implied meanings and explain character motivations.
Academic discussion: Develop opinions, consider alternative interpretations and justify conclusions.
Evidence-based writing: Build TEEA paragraphs — Topic, Explanation, Evidence and Analysis — using details from the text.
Essay planning and development: Organise arguments into introductions, developed body paragraphs and purposeful conclusions.
Vocabulary and creative expression: Practise new words through repeated recall, imaginative stories, letters, diaries, descriptive writing and other creative challenges.

Alongside analytical tasks, students invent magical schools, create characters, reimagine myths and investigate unfamiliar worlds. These playful challenges give them opportunities to apply literary techniques in their own writing.
Who is it for?
Students ready to read full-length English books, discuss their meaning and develop structured academic paragraphs. Selection should reflect the student’s reading and writing ability, alongside their school grade.
Includes: One JOOL companion workbook covering six books across 24 units. Use alongside separately obtained copies of the six original books. Suitable for JOOL Literature lessons and guided study.

Jool Education E-Book/PDF Refund Policy
This Refund Policy governs refund requests for digital products (e-books and PDFs) purchased through Jool Education (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By completing a purchase, you agree to the terms below.
1. Scope
Applies to: All digital downloads of e-books and PDFs sold on our website.
Excludes: Physical products, subscription services, and bundled offers that include physical components.
2. Eligibility for Refunds
You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase if one or more of the following apply:
Defective File
The downloaded file is corrupted, unreadable, or fails to open in standard PDF/e-reader software.
Incorrect File Delivered
You received a title or version different from what you purchased.
Duplicate Purchase
You accidentally bought the same e-book/PDF twice within a 24-hour window.
Requests made after 14 days will be assessed on a case-by-case basis but cannot be guaranteed.
3. Non-Refundable Situations
We cannot refund where:
You change your mind after successfully downloading the file.
You did not read the product description prior to purchase.
Your device’s software or hardware prevents access, provided the file itself is functional.
You experience an interrupted download but can resume it.

We’ll confirm receipt within 1 UK business day.
If needed, we may ask for a screenshot or the faulty file for verification.
Resolution
Approved refunds are credited to the original payment method within 5–7 business days.
If we can correct the issue (e.g., resend the proper file), we may offer a replacement instead of refunding.
5. Payment Methods & Processing
Refunds go back to the original payment method (credit/debit card, PayPal, etc.).
Actual posting times vary by payment provider.
6. Exceptions & Escalations
If you believe your situation warrants special consideration (e.g., exceptional circumstances), reply to our refund confirmation email. We aim to respond within 2 UK business days.
