The Jool Story
I’m James Roe, the founder of Jool.
And I was that kid—bright, imaginative, and completely under-challenged in school.
While I thrived in curiosity and big ideas, the classroom always felt like it was holding me back. Everything changed when I began teaching in South Korea, where I saw something extraordinary:
8-year-olds debating ethics. 10-year-olds reading Shakespeare.
No stress. Just structure, challenge, and joy.
It was a wake-up call.
If this was possible for students there - why weren’t we doing it for brilliant, under-challenged children back home?
That question became a mission.
That mission became Jool.

🎓 From Seoul to Cambridge
After years of teaching advanced English, philosophy, and writing in Korea, I returned to the UK to design something new - something elite, but joyful. Rigorous, but kind.
Now, from our base in the UK, we support students across the UK, US, and beyond - through 1:1 online tuition, study camps, and our in-house curriculum workbooks.
